Sara Rosso of the Daily Post challenges us this week with the word foreign. She says ’While foreign (rightly so) often brings up images of things outside of your own nation, it can also apply to things outside of or different from your normal environment, or even something which is out of place in general’. Go have a look at all things foreign by clicking on other entries…
I’m in Australia. I am foreign to many of you, and you to me so I have endless photos I could choose for this week..however I am using some photos from my one and only trip to the USA six years back now.
Hope those of you in America enjoy the view from a foreigner’s eye, 2006.

Hard to beat those Amish for something that looks foreign…at least to Australian eyes! Thanks for the visit and ‘like’.
Hi Richard – yeah they fascinate me !
will visit again..
From NYC to the Amish to a field full of school buses. Yeah, I guess we’re pretty foreign over here. ;-P
The never ending school buses was amazing..we have nothing like that!
It looks like you were in Amish country! That’s where I grew up–Sugarcreek, Ohio. My grandfather broke away from the Amish faith when he was very young.
We went to Pennsylvania for a weekend. Wow I’d love to hear stories..do you write about it, or did he not talk about it much?
Being an Aussie, this is very ‘foreign’ to me. Great work
Thanks Dianne – the differences are quite surprising aren’t they
Really interesting.
Isn’t it amazing, what we take for granted is “foreign” to someone else. Nice pictures!
Thanks
Excellent collage… i love how we can tell our stories in multiple sets…
Thank you – agreed, that new gallery option is really attractive!
I like this! It is very interesting to see what is unusual and foreign to visitors. How do the kids in Australia get to school if they live too far to walk?
Regular buses and trains that everyone takes ej….and of course our school year/system is different so, while the longest break is over our summer, we don’t have nearly such a long break as you. I realised, after first surprise, that they had to park somewhere for the summer! It just was so unusual to me to see bus upon bus upon bus parked in a field like that…and a little further down the road a sign ‘Bus drivers wanted’.
Laughed myself silly…small things amuse small minds they say
hahaha! I love the irony in that!
I know right! Totally cracked us up – sister, daughter, me..was such a fun roadtrip we had.
You are delightful, funny, honest, REAL!
I am a NZer living in the US (as you know) but those yellow school buses always catch my eye.. and squirrels, i cannot help but love the little fellas, though i have none out here on the farmy.. which is unusual.. lovely shots..
Thank you
I loved my short trip there, would like to go back some day..maybe..
Lovely shots of a simpler lifestyle. Purrs from our Bodhicattva.
No way – your cat’s name !! Love it.
i like the big barn picture
I loved Amish country…
