I decided to go all out aussie style and give you nothing but Australian talent (I admit, for the benefit of Kiwi readers, that some of our best talent came from New Zealand
) .
The first two are not particularly favourites of mine but obviously are about early life
Jimmy Little – Australia, Down Under
Brian Cadd and Glenn Shorrock – Little ray of sunshine
then two serious hunks from my teen years
Dragon – Are you old enough?
Billy Thorpe – Almost Summer (yes he’s making another appearance for those of you who caught him in a recent post!)
John Farnham fits in with parenthood – when I was at high school it wasn’t cool to sing along to Johnny but as I got older I realised what a star he is..and in fact I could do my whole life in his songs!
John Farnham – Age of reason (some Australian scenery in film clip)
marriage breakup…and Crowded House breaks up ! Live from their ‘Farewell to the World’ concert on the steps of the Sydney Opera House
Crowded House – Better be home soon
the future ? I hope love…sunsets over beaches…and maybes..
Hunters & Collectors – Throw your arms around me
Powderfinger with Missy Higgins – Sunsets (filmed on steps of Opera House)
Wave your hands in the air (or just leave me a comment) if you’ve heard of any of these bands/singers??

Very cool, Annie. Australia Down Under is really cute. Your two serious hunks have some serious hair, but then, didn’t they all in 1978 … and all the smoking!
I like that song. I like Age of Reason best – probably because I’m older!
Ha ha I know the hair!!
Edited to ask at the end if anyone has actually heard of any of them !!
Age of Reason has good lyrics…John Farnham sings some really thoughtful songs, one day I should do a post just on him.
Glad you liked them
At the moment I’m singing the last one most…sunset sunset sunset….
I had never heard any of them before, but I liked your choices for the challenge.
You Aussies are so blessed with music. I used to listen to Hunters and Collectors in college, along with Crowded House and Hoodoo Gurus. I love how everyone in the crowd sings along. One of my best memories of Australia was singing a Joe Jackson song with a huge crowd in an Aussie pub. Thanks for sharing, Annie.
So happy it brought back great memories for you Kozo
*waving hands in the air*
I’ve heard Crowded House, but none of the others. Thank you for the introduction; I don’t believe I was formerly familiar with Aussie music until reading your post.
Yay
glad you liked it.
i remember a few of those.. old times aye! c
great memories
Interesting !
Thanks for checking it out Swalia
I love all of them! Throw Your Arms Around me is probably one of my all time favourites!
A bit of useless trivia – Crowded House is Stephen Kings favourite band and you’ll find a lot of their songs included in his movies
Mine too…
Oh I didn’t know that about Stephen King – my son loves his work..
Terrific idea to share music from your homeland… I love that idea and will listen to them. I’m not familiar with any of them.
Thanks Elizabeth
