Shantideva, an Indian Buddhist scholar and teacher, wrote his ‘Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life’ in the 8th century and yet as I study it, and follow the Tibetan Buddhist path, I can apply it directly to my life in 21st century Australia.
I have been supremely lucky enough to receive teachings on Shantideva’s Guide from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama himself!
Today’s Daily Prompt asks if we have a favourite quote? Mine comes from Shantideva on the topic of worry – it’s easy to fall into the pattern of worry of course but if you think about it, his teaching makes perfect sense.
‘If you can solve your problem then what is the need of worrying; if you cannot solve it then what is the use of worrying’
