In 2011, I flew south to Melbourne for a couple of amazing days. I listened to the teachings. I mingled with like minded people. You could say I was cocooned – the time spent in that event centre was like being in a Buddhist country. I can’t draw you the atmosphere, the energy, the bliss of those days. I floated. I smiled.
It’s not the only time I’ve experienced this and, to me, every second in his presence is unforgettable..but one morning before the teachings, just after I took this photo of security and official photographers, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama came out of his hotel room, around that corner, to meet me.
He grasped my hand and twisted my fingers in his. His face, eyes, centimetres from mine. Peered deeper into me than I knew existed and brought it all to the surface. Bolt of energy.
Just after this photo was taken? Unbelievable…UNFORGETTABLE

Wow that sounds like quite an encounter…
Yes bulldog – I have to pinch myself from time to time
Wow! I am reading ‘The Art of Happiness now.
He’s the man Jules

It does seem like a ray of light is coming around the corner. What an intense encounter.

Amazing experience! Beyond words.
Truly astonishing..
One of the many things that make you who you are. A good thing.
Thank you so much Tim x
Amazing.
so blessed, I know.
I just got chills. Sitting in a room/stadium, with His Holiness, was electric. I can’t even imagine shaking his hand! Wow.
Being that close, the urge to prostrate was instinctive…
I certainly would have!
I’m pretty sure that I would lose all facilities!
Easy to do in that close proximity
incredible, now you are passing that blessing to us, thank you!
absolute joy
I’ve said this before, you are blessed, Annie. Forehead to forehead with the Dalai Lama. {{{Hugs}}} Kozo

Fantastic, Annie. What an amazing experience!
It was That
Amazing, I just found your post. Wish I’d found it before because the same thing happened to me! The Dalai Lama was in Delhi for the meeting with the Thai groups in December 14th-16th 2012, and he stopped beside me at the entrance and held my hands and looked into my eyes. The feeling was as you describe it. I’m so glad to read this. Thank you for posting
How wonderful, such a blessing
And for it to happen by chance…well there’s no such thing as chance of course, if you believe in Karma
My meeting was arranged and expected – I waited outside his room before he walked across for the teachings, something amazing to remember in the down times..
Exactly, something amazing to remember, his hands were so soft! So good to read about how it happened to you. Thanks
