On Thursday my darling daughter had her first Infliximab (remicade) infusion.
All went smoothly and so far, two days post treatment, only the expected ‘minor’ side effects – she’s been warm, tired…
Fingers crossed this kicks her in to remission.

I do infusions every 3-4 weeks for my Immune disorder. I take that time to just sit quietly, and watch a movie, or write. It takes some getting used to, but if it helps her health, hopefully your daughter will find some peace in it as well. Best wishes.
She’s ok with the actual infusion – she’s had three before this (emergency blood transfusion; and two iron infusions) . It’s more a matter of whether this drug will work for her you know? I love your attitude towards the treatment and will share those suggestions with her

Wow. It’s happened. I’m sorry to read this but really hoping that this is the answer to the problem! I am meeting with a new GI specialist in a couple weeks to see if that’s the same route I should be on…who knows!! I wish your daughter the best and hope remission comes quickly

Don’t be sorry. If this works it’s wonderful, the first choice treatment wasn’t working.
We managed to get this on Govt approval so she has a few doses to find out if it works and then we try for more..
Hoping it WORKS and that remission comes. And the same for you – I hope you get to try this too and that it works well xx

Not sure how long it takes to work that out Maggie. Follow up appt with specialist today but it could be a few more weeks before we know..I’ve heard that sometimes it’s after the second infusion before you know.

I’m glad to hear it’s been so helpful for you. My daughter has UC and in Australia it’s only approved for Crohns so after three doses we may not be able to get more!! I’m going to scream if that’s the case..
