This weekend, we are revisiting a prompt we’ve done before.  We are giving you three words and asking that you add another 33 to them to make a complete 36-word response.  You may use the words in any order you choose.

Our three words are:

remember
rain
rebellion

—————————————————-

No need for that empty rebellion.

Ask annie to remember her own teen years and she’d rather not.

How old would her son be before all this rain stopped. So many tears shed. His silence screaming.

  1. So intense! I love that last line – very powerful!

  2. I remember the tears shed while my girls attained their “adult”hood. Good stuff!

  3. […] came across a writing challenge in bodhisattvaintraining’s blog from […]

  4. This is great, Annie (I feel the same about my teen years!) 😉

  5. So much said in so few words. This is great and powerful.

  6. “How old would her son be before all this rain stopped. So many tears shed. His silence screaming.” So powerful, so true. Those kind of scars are forever.

  7. The teenage years are so tough. I like the very last sentence. Powerful.

  8. Dreading the years of rain to soon come in my home. I hope the silence goes away. Silence is the worst.

  9. Teen years-a difficult time for both the parents & the teenager! But,if we remember our own teen years,it may be easier to go through-a little at least?;-)Well written.

Am intrigued by the name you are using “bodhisattvaintraining”-would love to know more:-)

    • Difficult years – as a teen you have no idea your parent is also suffering 😉

Ah atrm I am just a practitioner on the slow path to enlightenment 🙂 A bodhisattva in training..how many lifetimes?

      • True:-)Fortunately,unlike me(I was a rebel & my mom despaired of me),my daughter has given me hardly any trouble-she just turned 17:-)

I see, good to have a divine calling, hope you have a beautiful journey -at least in this lifetime:-)

  10. Those tears… you think they will never end. Touché.

  11. There is love in his silence, Annie. And the rain will stop. We all need a little empty rebellion in our youth. {{{hugs]}} Kozo

  12. There is soooo much in this post. Really, really powerful.

  13. This must speak to every mother on the planet!
