ghost ships

Late afternoon there were two black triangles way out near where the horizon usually is.

The closer one looked like a shark’s fin, slowly slicing the water. The other, smaller, was close to falling off the edge.

The sea was flat – a grey velour blanket.

All shrouded in smoke and mist. Most surreal sight ever in fifteen years of that view.

  1. Now I’m curious… what were they?

  2. Hazy skies can add to a mysterious appearance like that. Probably what inspired many of the seafaring stories and poems.
